Cathodoluminescence (CL)
Cathodoluminescence (CL) is an optical and electromagnetic phenomenon through bombarding the surface with high-energy electrons to produce the emission of electromagnetic radiation. This emission can be in the broad spectral range from ultraviolet up to infrared.
The most significant advantage of CL is its unique ability to analyse & detect a wide range of materials.
Cathodoluminescence is commonly used in scanning electron microscope (SEM or STEM) & CL microscope.
HORIBA’s Cathodoluminescence Universal Extension (CLUE) systems provide high-resolution spectral information with the spatial resolution of an electron probe. It is a powerful tool when used for investigation in geology, mineralogy, forensics & lifesciences.
