motorised focus drive

Automated process flow within microscopy not only often requires motorized X- and Y-axes but also an automatic adjustment of the Z-axis. In order to create a complete system that is as economical as possible in such cases, various systems are available for subsequently fitting microscopes with motorized focus drives.

For supplementary motorization of the Z-axis the focus drive MFD-2 is simply positioned on the fine focus knob of the microscope. A stable and accurate positioning is ensured by the additional adaptation of the base plate. MFD-2 comes in a wide number of selections to cater to the various microscopes.

​For supplementary motorization of the Z-axis the focus drive MFD is simply positioned on the fine focus knob of the microscope. This ensures very precise positioning in the third axis.

For supplementary motorization of the Z-axis, the focus drive MA 42 is installed by removing the fine focus knob from the microscope and fixing the MA 42, in conjunction with a special coupling, directly to the shaft of the fine focus. This method prevents any slippage or loss of steps.

Where this is not possible - due to the design of the microscope - the drive ensues via a friction pulley, positioned on the fine focus knob.

It is available with/without the gearbox.

piezo Z Stage


Picture
The Märzhäuser Piezo Z-stage enables quick and high-resolution sample positioning. Focusing is achieved by moving the sample dynamically and precisely along the optical axis, adjusting within a few milliseconds and with accuracy within nanometer range.

The large, free aperture is designed for a variety of sample holders, ranging from a slide up to microtiter plates. Extra large handle recesses enable easy handling of well plates with lid.

The Piezo Z-stage is compatible with nearly all Märzhäuser scanning stages of the SCAN IM series.
